Better breathing for a healthy future

Pulmosure LD

Pulmosure LD

Managing respiratory health in young beef calves can be a challenge. Maintaining good respiratory health is of the utmost importance to ensure that a calf develops and grows to its best potential.

Changing weather conditions, large temperature differences between day and night, inadequate ventilation, crowded
housing, mixing calves from different sources and stressful situations (such as transportation) may all have a negative effect
on the condition of the airways of calves.

Farm-O-San Pulmosure LD is a complementary feed for calves, containing an essential oil that supports breathing and clearing of the airways. Farm-O-San Pulmosure LD also contains a natural form of vitamin E and organically bound selenium in order to support the immune function.

Administration

Use Farm-O-San Pulmosure LD as topdressing or mix it with milk/calf milk replacer. Provide Farm-O-San Pulmosure LD to the whole group of calves at the same time. Once the first warning signs occur, it’s important to act fast and support the respiratory tract’s primary defence mechanism. The upper parts of the respiratory tract contain so-called goblet cells. These produce a mucous layer that covers the inner lining of the tract and traps unwanted particles inhaled by the calf.

I was very keen to use Pulmosure on animals I had housed in a rented shed where I knew there would be extra stress as they were more confined. The Pulmosure is very palatable – the calves licked it all up. Due to the severity of the winter the animals were housed longer than intended, and over one 3 day period there was a 20 degree variation in temperature. But through it all I had no coincidence of pneumonia in my calves. In the future I won’t rear a calf without Pulmosure!
